Choir performs at UMKC

DSC_0135In order to better its musical abilities, the Baldwin High School Concert Choir took a trip to UMKC to rehearse with college professors on Friday, Oct. 30.

“We went to expose our choir to expert opinions from conservatory professors,” director Beth Nelson said.

The choir performed Domine Fili Unigenite and Witness. After performing, the students were given feedback from professors about their pieces.

“We have the technicalities down,” sophomore Alex Alsup said. “We just need to give our pieces character.”

This is the second year Concert Choir has made the trip to UMKC.

“It’s always good to get performances of these challenging pieces under our belts. We gave a great performance under a fairly stressful situation,” Nelson said. “We also got some great advice from the professors and graduate students, saw how a college group rehearses and had fun at Winstead’s.”
